Glossary of Terms - F

A tabular strain relief or potting termination on a transducer.

A network that selectively stops energy from passing through the circuit. Due to the need for a stable internal ground a filter cannot be used to ground noise internally.

Freeze Point Standard

The freeze point of known fixed reference temperatures, the freezing points of metals. They are usually not monitored by a reference thermometer since the pure metal samples are certified.

Freezing Point

The temperature at which a liquid becomes a solid (not necessarily identical with the solids melting point). Used with certain metals to assign precision temperature points on IPTS-68.

The number of complete cycles of AC voltage which occurs during on second.

Full Scale Value

The arithmetic sum of the two end-scale values. When zero is not on the scale, the full scale value is the higher end-scale value.
