A torque wrench turns and tightens nuts, bolts and other types of threaded fasteners, while simultaneously measuring applied torque. The specified torque for each application can be adjusted by the user or may be pre-set by the manufacturer. Measured torque is reported to the user via a signal, dial, or other scale. A commonly used click wrench employs a ratchet mechanism to inform the user with a click that set-torque is reached. In comparison, an electronic wrench digitally displays a transducer-generated reading. Torque transducer devices often utilize strain gauge technology.
